DataTrain

Developing an autonomous train to reactivate rural tracks with a focus on social and technical safety.

„Reactivating decommissioned railway routes, connecting rural areas“

The story of REAKT does not begin in the offices of an administration or the plans of a corporation, but in the heart of the region – among the people who live there. On their own initiative, local residents joined forces to restore the disused section of track to visibility. After many hours of working together, the track was cleared until the old rails reappeared and the first tourist trolley rides became possible.

This commitment sends a strong signal and comes with high expectations. HL Bahnstreckenverwaltungs GmbH acts as a central hub between local associations, researchers at participating universities, industry, and municipalities. Armin is working with the company to harness the energy from the region, structure it, and transform it into a sustainable strategy.
This is how REAKT is developing step by step – supported by a strong local base, combined with scientific expertise and open cooperation.

REAKT

The mFUND project REAKT DATA, funded by the BMDV, is dedicated to reactivating decommissioned railway lines through autonomous on-demand transport services.

Muthesius Press Release

Research is now receiving a strong boost thanks to financial support from the DATIpilot funding guideline of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

"The expansion of railroad transportation in rural areas not only contributes to the mobility transition and climate protection, but also promotes the social participation of people who do not have access to a car."
Prof. Dr. Reinhard von Hanxleden
